The International Yoga Day session in Marol shaped up our morning beautifully on 21st June, 2018, as we gathered for a peaceful and harmonious yoga practice first thing in the day. Members from Chandivali branch and some new comers who had been forwarded our session details by near and dear ones attended along with the regular home branch members.
The aura of the class was naturally quite different – it being a day when probably thousands of people all over the world – of every race, religion, color, caste, sexuality and so on, were also practicing yoga in their respective homes, studios, offices or gardens, just as we were. We started the session with five rounds of Om chanting and exchanged our thoughts about “what is yoga”. With this, the group was well oriented towards seeing and practicing yoga in the right light.
The AYUSH ministry through its various activities as also through the International Yoga Day Protocol document has been clearly and successfully presenting yoga in a holistic light – as a tool for overall self-transformation.
We performed together, a full 60 minute routine of traditional yoga techniques complete with a few cleansing kriyas, sukhma vyayamas, asanas, pranayamas and music meditation. Attendees were enthusiastic, dedicated, full of positive, receiving vibes and very participative.
At the end we together chanted the universal peace prayer from Upanishads – Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinaha. Apart from being a beautiful and very popular mantra, this sloka also happens to be a part of the common protocol for International Yoga Day.
Smiles and greetings wrapped up the vibrant practice and prayer session. 🙂
